“Manoel”, o quarto LP dos Sensible Soccers, gravado na Arda Recorders e coproduzido pela banda e João Brandão, resulta do trabalho da criação de duas novas bandas sonoras para dois filmes de Manoel de Oliveira: "Douro, Faina Fluvial" (1931) e "O Pintor e a Cidade" (1956). O Universo Oliveriano e a forma como o realizador olhava o Porto - a sua cidade, tão bem retratada nestas obras - funcionaram como pauta para o ritmo e ambiente de uma série de composições que serão apresentadas em formato cine-concerto, em diálogo com os filmes. Este diálogo assume diferentes contornos ao longo do caminho: por vezes a música passeia no cinema, ao seu passo e no seu tempo, como vento pelas costas. Outras vezes invade-o, impondo uma nova leitura, qual vendaval hostil. A memória – desta feita, a da(s) cidade(s) - volta a ser mote fundamental. É desta série de composições – algumas revistas, outras aumentadas, outras ainda transfiguradas ou mesmo irreconhecíveis - que nasce “Manoel”, fazendo o seu próprio caminho, para lá das imagens. O resultado são 10 temas com identidades muito diversas, que vão do ambiental ao techno, passando pelo jazz ou pelo dub, num jogo de alternâncias – tão apanágio dos Sensible Soccers – entre a luz pop e a melancolia ou o experimentalismo.

On ‘Inverted World’, Somalgia present a psychedelic interpretation of a dystopian reality set in a world not unlike our own. The album covers an eclectic range of influences & genres from black metal, trip-hop and folk to progressive & psychedelic rock.

Conceptually, ‘Inverted World’ follows a journey of awakening in which the protagonist struggles to come to terms with the nature of reality, falls down endless conspiracy rabbit holes, battles addiction, consumerism & technology overload and ultimately understands what it means to be an outsider in a backwards world.

Darksunn - Almada Velha [2021]

With almost 20 years of career behind the decks or at the frontline of the beats, DarkSunn - producer and DJ born in Almada - arrives in December with his sixth solo work. "Almada Velha", the 15-track album that the musician founder of Monster Jinx has built, is a love letter to the city that saw him born and, in particular, to the old part of the city. The electronica and hip-hop of the musician's particular beats walk around the historic Rua Capitão Leitão, contributing to put in evidence a "reliquary of the places and situations that the city has given me," in the producer's own words.

"It is a love letter that is also a bow to the city and an attempt to give back, without falling into the common places of sampling its sounds or those who live there," he says. In a register where one can perceive a depth of maturity when compared to other projects, the producer arrives with a work that is sometimes smooth, where the jazzy beats seem to rule, and sometimes cut by the more classic and frenetic sounds of old school hip-hop. The dynamism and drive of Rua Capitão Leitão are found in tracks like "Tasca do Cão", "Gandim" or "Ponto", a reference to the famous meeting place, Ponto de Encontro, while the nostalgia and sobriety found in "3 shots", "Almada" or "Boca de Vento", take us on a journey through the musician's adolescence and early adulthood.

"While "3 shots" is reminiscent of a bar where we used to go a lot, "Petisqueira" makes reference to the place where, late in the morning, we could end up eating something, where you just enter by ringing an almost invisible bell," explains the musician. Filled with memories and teachings, "Almada Velha" is a manual for understanding the producer's experiences, but also for making a sentimental cut of all the alternative culture that made and makes the city, and the musician, vibrate. "Gandim, for example, refers to Gandaia, an old skate store and cultural center of the city that later saw the birth of a skate brand called "Gandim" by the hand of Roka, who became one of my mentors in this idea of community and of giving motivation and confidence to those who were starting out", he points out.

Almost totally in charge of DarkSunn, "Almada Velha" also receives the rapper J-K to participate in the opening track, "Cacilheiro", a remix of the unavoidable "Almada", where DarkSunn's most classic broken beats are joined by guitar, wind and piano chords.

An unprecedented walk through the city, a love letter, a survival manual to nostalgia and memories, a reliquary, this is "Almada Velha".

"during the process/after the release of angel.radio, i started working on this mixtape for a couple of months. i gotta say, im proud of how it turned out. angel.radio was fun, but i think that i've found my groove making vaporwave (im not gonna stop making lofi/other stuff fyi).

while sloejams 1 was mostly upbeat and danceable, ive taken the "slowjam" style to heart on here, with most tracks being somber, downtempo and somewhat introspective. some sample video games, some sample older songs, but they all still have that sugar-glazed-sonic-flair in common.

Symmetrical Forest is the debut EP from Stereo Raptor, released as an independent artist.

Started back in 2017, it is finally here after a lot of work, which helped mature what is now the final product.

It represents an earlier phase of Stereo Raptor, in which the main influences were deep/dark dubstep ones, coming from artists like Biome, Kryptic Minds, District, Skream, Truth and many others.

But with time more influences came to the surface, bringing some musical and timbrical subtleties that the EP didn´t have early on. Such influences came from progressive rock and metal (bands like Opeth and Porcupine Tree, etc.), Ambient Drone (Atrium Carceri, Flowers For Bodysnatchers, etc.), and other prominent electronic music artists like Aphex Twin, Culprate and Igorrr.

Compositions and production started back in 2017.

Mixing and Mastering made from October 2020 to April 2021.
