Grand Sun's debut LP, 'Sal Y Amore' is a sonic trip to the band's chaotic mind. While debuting their first bunch of songs (with the EP 'The Plastic People of The Universe', in 2018) they play just enough around their country, in festivals and concert halls, to find out that close contact with people is what they really want and need. This record is a caustic spice in a timeless party, where the band doesn't have any reservation of showing themselves as they want: intense and festive.

The LP's opener, 'River' is a drone-ey wave waiting for the clash, that happens with 'She Wants You', a sludgy garage rock song in the ways of MBV meeting Alice in Chains. From the late-70's hip tune 'Palo Santo' to the delicate storytelling of 'A Picture' and the post-punk attire on 'Feeling Tired' and Circles', the band refers to the whole experience of growing up together, the existential fear and all the breakdowns. They talk about a contrast between innocent and idyllic love and a more mature type of relationships, hence the salt.

This record draws inspiration from cult acts such as The Velvet Underground, The Zombies, Wire, The Rain Parade or Pavement and recent ones like Omni, Parquet Courts, King Gizzard & Lizzard Wizzard, and Beach Fossils.

Without salt, there is no love.

The globally sourced strains of pop songs feature shadowy and exotic electronic sounds, layered folk choral vocals, minimalist synth motifs, atmospheric textures and percussive beats.

"Our new album 'King Ruiner' is out. I don't use the term 'album' lightly. I recently gave an interview regarding the release where I was confronted with the notion that its a dying format... I don't believe so, an album holds a concept, a story line like this one does. From a collage of failed ambition to a message of hope in a relatable listenable and hopefully with a sense of catharsis for those who get to dig deeper. Nowadays we’re expecting a lot of ourselves in terms of work, rate, and degrees of success, so it’s just my way of commenting on the vast feeling of sadness you can experience if you don’t match those expectations. I got a lot of comfort from global music these past times, from the powerful choral African singing and polyrhythms to the otherworldly feelings of escape from New Age Oriental music. Nasceu em Vila Real em 1976. Fez os seus estudos de clarinete com Saul Silva e António Saiote e aperfeiçoou-se com Michel Arrignon e Alain Damiens. Em Portugal, França e Áustria, frequentou master-classes orientadas pelos clarinetistas Guy Dangain, Walter Boeykens, Howard Clug, António Saiote, Michel Arrignon, Robert Fontaine e Alois Brandhofer. Nuno Pinto tem dedicado uma grande parte do seu trabalho à música de câmara. É membro fundador dos grupos Camerata Senza Misura, Trivm de Palhetas e Clarinetes Ad Libitum e tem colaborado com o Moscow Piano Quartet, o Ensemble Contrapuctus, o Quarteto de Cordas de Lisboa, o Ensemble Português de Clarinetes e o Quarteto de Cordas de Aveiro. É membro da OrquestrUtópica e do Grupo Música Nova. Músico completo, é intérprete de vários estilos musicais. Foi solista com a Orquestra Clássica do Porto, Orquestra do Norte, Solistas do Porto, Orquestra de Câmara Musicare, Orquestra Artave e European Medical Students Orchestra. Colaborou ainda com a Orquestra Gulbenkian, Orquestra Sinfónica Portuguesa. Enquanto clarinetista, tem participado em inúmeros festivais de música em Portugal e no estrangeiro e esteve presente em estreias de obras de compositores como Cândido Lima, Christopher Bochmann, António Vitorino d'Almeida, Carlos Guedes, Virgílio Melo, Carlos Azevedo, Fernando C. Lapa, José Júlio Lopes, Nuno Côrte-Real, Ivan Moody, Carlos Caires, Miguel Azguime, António Sousa Dias, entre outros. É dedicatário de obras de Cândido Lima, Luís Tinoco, Virgílio Melo, Sérgio Azevedo e Ricardo Ribeiro. Nuno Pinto é professor de Clarinete e de Música de Câmara na Escola Superior de Música e Artes do Espectáculo, no Porto, e na Fundação Conservatório Regional de Gaia.
