Reverie Records is the newest label in town. Founded in 2023 by Hugo Hugon, comes with a mission of bringing to light new emergent bands in the indie scene. It names this new Too Many Suns Album, marking the beginning of a new era for the group. The band, composed by Hugo Hugon (guitar and vocals), João Cardoso (drums), Vasco Rato (bass) and Simão Reis (guitar and keys), tells us:

"

We don’t run from our identity made of contrasts, in which Pop and Rock are intertwined in an unpredictable manner (listen to ‘Parallels’), and in which Pop songs (‘Gold’) mix fearless with more conceptual ideas (‘Kim Gordon’).

Pop takes a more central role in this album, but its inherent simplicity did not stop us from approaching it with more maturity, and even growing as a band, exploring different sonic landscapes.

"

Examples of this are the different partnerships with the feminine vocals of Surma (‘1974’), Beatriz Nunes (‘Take Me Home’) and the debutante So (‘Gold’), as well as the Nepalese Bansuri from Sunil Pariyar (‘C’mon’). We dwell, as is our habit, between songs and sonic explorations but the tracks all have a dreamlike hallmark that brings them together: ‘Reverie’ and its meaning is present, either in the lyrics or in the atmosphere they create.

After the EPs ‘Garden’ (2019), ‘Quiet’ (2022) and the album ‘Meaning of Light‘ (2020), ‘Reverie’ is recorded by Ulpiano Cabalbo at Waahs Studios and produced by André Isidro at Ducktape Melodies, labeled by Reverie Records and management and distribution by Indie Music PT.

Physical support gains shape in a CD, with a first edition of 200 copies. It’ll be on pre-sale in the online store storeindiemusic.pt and available on May 24th, the same day the band presents a new single featuring Surma and accompanied by a Videoclip: ‘1974’ talks about two lovers that live the Portuguese revolution in 1974 (that ended a 50 year old dictatorship), e start to envision everything that may change in their future. A necessary allegory in times of intolerance and uncertainty, but also of hope and the need for change.
