EIS AQUI UMA PROPOSTA DIFERENTE DO HABITUAL. ESTE REGISTO ABORDA ESSENCIALMENTE TEMAS CONTEMPORÂNEOS QUE ME FASCINARAM PELAS HARMONIAS ARROJADAS. É O CASO, POR EXEMPLO, DAS FAIXAS 4, 7, 8 E 9.
Sæcula per infinity sæculorum (‘And it will remain through endless ages’) takes us through the last twenty centuries of vocal composition. Using the female voice as a bridge between the multiple eras presented, this album allows the cohabitation of names such as Hildegard von Bingen (1098-1179), the only composer among the male successors, and contemporaries Alfredo Teixeira (b.1965) and Carlos Garcia (b.1983), who signed two works premiered by Ensemble Vocal Aura. The divine also presents itself as a link between the various styles, mirrored in their own musical textures and languages, which also outline divergent emotions. The album begins with a song by Ola Gjeilo (b.1978), based on a message of love, which then turns into an atmosphere of pain and torment, presented in the works of Francis Poulenc (1899-1963) and Carlos Garcia. Even so, it is the songs of joy that prevail within the album, leading us to the celebration of life, by Gustav Holst (1874-1934), and culminating in the composer who also set the tone for the sound journey, Ola Gjeilo. This return to the beginning allows the completion of a cycle, circularity being synonymous with perfection and the passage of time itself.
