French pianist Vincent Larderet released the first installment of his ambitious four-volume project, "Ravel: Complete Works for Solo Piano, Vol. 1," on March 1, 2024, under the AVIE Records label (AV2623). 

Key Album Details

Tracklist: The first volume includes five major sets: Miroirs, Jeux d'eau, Valses nobles et sentimentales, Sonatine, and Pavane pour une infante défunte.

Historical Authenticity: Larderet used personal scores once owned and annotated by the legendary pianist Vlado Perlemuter, who studied these works directly with Maurice Ravel between 1927 and 1929. These annotations provided unique insights into Ravel's preferred tempi, pedaling, and phrasing.

World Premieres: The complete series (four volumes) is billed as the first-ever "Urtext compilation" of Ravel’s solo piano works and will include numerous world-premiere recordings of rare or unpublished pieces.

The album received widespread acclaim from classical music publications in 2024: 

Fono Forum: Awarded it "Recommendation of the Month" (July 2024) with 5 stars for both music and sound, praising Larderet's "crystal-clear chords" and "transparency".

Gramophone: Described the performance as "painstakingly comprehensive," noting a style that favors "concentrated integrity" and "honesty" over traditional Impressionist shimmer.

AllMusic: Named it one of the "Favorite Classical Instrumental Albums of 2024". 

Future Releases

As of early 2026, the series continues. The first single from Volume 2 (featuring Le Tombeau de Couperin) was released in December 2025, with the full second volume published on January 16, 2026.
