Introducing the second release on angel: 'All I Am Is We' by the versatile Portuguese artist TOMÉ. This EP came about after we shared some incredible dancefloor moments with the young artist and raver, realizing there was a lot of common ground in our sonic leanings - the perfect ingredient to think of a record together. TOMÉ came up with a set of tracks that, through the loose lens of drum n bass, melds some of his main influences: experimental, dreamy, noisy, and intricate soundscapes.

Opener 'Jumping On Slippery Stones' follows a delicate, increasingly oneiric narrative led by organic yet tight crisp breakbeats; a soothing pad; a wobbly sub; arpeggiated psychedelia-drenched synths, and staccato strings. The hilariously titled 'Skull Emoji' follows suit with a mind-bending and ever-mutating break - something you wouldn't be surprised if it were DMX Krew or AFX on the commands - and a twisted synth line akin to what LFO were up to back in the early nineties. His own vocals, 16 rap bars pitched to semi-chipmunk levels, somehow make it to this track and unexpectedly tie it up perfectly.

'Unemployed Friends' brings us complex drum programming and disorienting (good) piano licks layered over warm fluffy pads to a highly emotive effect. 'The Plug Looking At Me' is the only four-to-the-floor track, punctuated with half-tempo dubbed out broken moments because nothing is straightforward in this record - ravey stabs also make the cut, making for a blissful and imaginative party banger.

The EP closes with a remix by Porto's Bug Snapper, a multimedia artist and musician who is part of the city's forward-thinking ARCANA collective. It picks up the original and transforms it with resonator sound sculpting into a dubby, deep ecstatic trip, all long drifting pads and renewed melodies.

angel is a new label ran from Lisbon by Violet. A sister label to naive and naivety, angel tries to portray the party series of the same name - a bass-led, smoke-drenched celebration where the main room is dedicated to dnb and the second room explores adjacent genres.
